The prevalence of blankpunk blankcore blankwave is apparent enough. I wanted something friendlier and Schmooze came to mind, the slinking odor of the capitalist underbelly; Schmooze is at its heart manipulative, but its derogatory use lends too much darkness; the incentive turned to cutting it with a Lounge aesthetic, something that takes its own darkness as a kind of honor, a kind of privilege of ignorance of the rest of the world from the safety of the leisure space, hidden in subdued lighting and welcoming to the clinking of glass tumblers.
Schmoozecore Loungepunk
The core Schmooze lent an advertiseral aesthetic, not distinctions of actual environments as much as the illusion of their possibility; bikini-clad figures waiting to sell the view of empty horizons. Loungepunk seemed to offer a unwieldy leisure, too busy for comfort (or perhaps soothed by an impenetrable sensorial saturation); and together they found a strange mix of desertion and reminiscence, the space of leisure becoming the stage of the advertisement.
Schmoozepunk Loungecore
Loungecore seemed to produce something completely foreign, a kind of humanity of the loungeset; I found myself in figures of distorted limbery relaxing upon a likeness, the leisure space intertwined with its dependents; Schmoozepunk seemed to give it space of an aggressive sales offer, as if its suggestion was not to sell furnishings but to sell the state of limbo to creatures with far too much complexity to simply enjoy a couch as it were. It would surely be easier to be the couch, to find one with the couchness - the ultimate sale of becoming the product itself, so that one simply buys themselves.
Schmoozecore Loungewave Pantonepunk
After some negotiation of initial successes with this combination I could find a pleasant space of emphatic hues somehow emboldened to a subtlety; loud and garish but reserved in its hiding space, available to be called upon - but until then, just hanging around. The first series declared a kind of intentional disinterest, as if the canvas was the leisurespace and the foreground figure simply too relaxed to bother. The textures awed me.
In this second evolved series the subjects were found alluring in their hiding and reservation; instead of foreground figures, even the background became disinterested in seeking more, and turned inward into itself through the privilege of its own decadence, slunking into the Schmooze.
Wavepunk Cybernouveau
With the earlier success I became satisfied, and in this splendor searched for an easy novelty. Art nouveau with its ornate nature I thought would lend itself to an artificiality in position with "cyber", which seemed to occur. Wavepunk similarly was an attempt to distance from the harshness of the blankpunk, but its representation is questionable. The results were uninteresting to me, unsurprising as I ran away from the lovely schmooze.
Blankcore Blankpunk Blankwave
In returning to this series to put it up I thought I would try a straight "blankpunk blankcore blankwave" and it lent me these two curiosities.
